It's a plugin that provides a slick way of adding semi-'static' content to your Geeklog site. It's good for more things than can be enumerated but privacy policies, contact pages and general announcements come to mind. More advanced admins can embed PHP in static pages (which, frankly, defeat the name of the plugin) and you can show content from a static page on, say, the page of a topic.

Just spend a few minutes using it...it should become clear.
The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.
