Weird article problem

everything on my index page is fine, looks great! When you click on an article and the article page loads (html article), the header is showing broken links. By right clicking on the header images, the path is all screwed up. For example, on the index page, the header images show a path like this:
....com/images/logo2... = image is shown because the path is correct.
Click on the article and the header path looks like this:
....com/article.php/images/logo2... = broken image tag because for obvious reasons the path is screwed up.
where in the heck is this setting located?

also, in the admin area, I am also seeing yet another variant:
...com/admin/images/logo2....
Anyone have any ideas?

I am using the professional theme. I had originally installed GL in its own folder (ie: ...com/news/public_html/...). I accidentally dumped the folders and had to reinstall it (all of the folders were deleted; no hold overs). After the reinstall, I upped everything in the GL public_html folder into my server's public_html folder and the remaining folders/files to a location outside of the public_html folder. I didn't have the problem before, but do after the reinstall.

I'm going to try and re-load it. Might have gotten either a bad upload or a folder out of place?

Are the links broken too, or just the links to the images?

reloading didn't work. I have tried it with Inno and ISAM db's and either way the header is AFU on the article and admin pages only (works fine on the index). I'm just getting broken image tags because the url's for the images are incorrect:
index: correct: ...com/images/logo2_01.gif
article: incorrect ....com/article.php/images/logo2_01.gif
admin: incorrect: ....com/admin/images/logo2_01.gif
I have not changed any of the paths for the images in the config file. Everything else shows up correctly so it shouldn't be a path problem for the entire board (just the images and it's affected differently depending upon where you are on the site).
Any ideas?????
index: correct: ...com/images/logo2_01.gif
article: incorrect ....com/article.php/images/logo2_01.gif
admin: incorrect: ....com/admin/images/logo2_01.gif

Found it!!!! When I took out the header-envelope and the left/right background images and placed my header in the header.thtml file, the problems show up.
Anyone know what I could possibly be cutting off that is causing the image url problems?

osrry for all of the posts, but if anyone ever sees this problem again, I had my logo url's set to: images/xxx.gif
The header would show up on the front page, but had incorrect urls everywhere else.
I had to change the urls to point to the template directory:
/layout/(template name)/images/xxx.gif

Using {layout_url} would be the better and more portable option, I think ...
