Deleted my stats, and now they're not being collected anymore

GUS was getting really slow.

So I used the admin page to clear out the stats.

And now there are no stats collected. I disabled and re-enabled the plug-in, and still the same.

Is there some log or db table I should be looking for messed up stuff?

Did it succeed in removing the data - i.e. did you get the "Data removed" message?

Check that GUS is enabled by going to the Admin->Plugins page.

Uh, I just noticed your comment "I disabled and re-enabled the plug-in"...

The data removal works as follows:

1) disables the plugin
2) TRUNCATEs the user stats and user agents tables
3) resets the "I've imported data" flag
4) re-enables itself

So what you should look for in the DB is:

1) gl_plugin table has pi_enabled = 1 for gus
2) the gl_gus_user_agents and gl_gus_userstats tables exist and are empty
3) gl_gus_vars has capture set to 1

Me again

Anonymous
As is often the case with troubleshooting, I failed to accurately report the problem.

That is, before I purged the data (which worked), I had added and removed some IP's to ignore.

The result was, the gl_gus_ignore_ip table had gotten corrupted..and had a blank line in it (which meant it was ignoring everything).

Removed the blank line, and it's cruising along again.

Thanks for your help (and on the odd chance that someone else has a similar problem, this might help them find a solution.)

Aha! Being able to add blank IPs, names, and pages is an inherited feature Laughing

This is fixed in the next version.

Thanks.

I'm not running the latest version, so perhaps this is in there.
But looking at what happened here, I wonder if it would be possible to add an optional step in the "clear" command.

After the plug-in's disabled, why not offer the opportunity to do either a mysqldump or a select of some sort on the visitorstats table, to save it as a CSV (or spreadsheet or desktop DB -readable) file or output it to the browser (where it could be saved)?

I mean, that way, you clear out the DB, speeding ops up, but archive the old data first.

(Or, alternatively, maybe there could be an "archive" command, independent of the "clear" that does this...)

(Of course, like I said, maybe this is already in the latest version.)

dbsmall,

There isn't anything like that in the latest version, and there won't be in the next [out soon!]. Eventually, I want to provide some kind of archive feature, I just have gotten around to it yet because there were other things I wanted to do first.

I would like to present a way to archive data by month. So a table comes up, you select the months to archive, check/don't check the box 'delete after archiving' and away you go.

I'll get to it eventually!
