Thanks for the assistance I seem to have gotten over my last problem now I get the following when I run: http://www.cicblog.com/cgi/gl/public_html/admin/install/install.php
Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/w/l/l/wlloydm/html/cgi/gl/system/databases/mysql.class.php on line 112
Cannnot connect to DB server
In config.php I entered:
********
// +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+
// | (1) Database Settings |
// +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+
$_DB_host = 'localhost'; // host name or IP address of your DB server
$_DB_name = '...'; // name of your database,
// must exist before running the installer!
$_DB_user = '...'; // MySQL user name
$_DB_pass = '...';
I also tried
// +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+
// | (1) Database Settings |
// +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
$_DB_host = 'mysql23.secureserver.net'; // host name or IP address of your DB server
$_DB_name = '...'; // name of your database,
// must exist before running the installer!
$_DB_user = '...'; // MySQL user name
$_DB_pass = '...';
Both times I got the above error message.
I have a website on godaddy.com (http://www.cicblog.com) I am trying to install Geeklog 1.3.11 which is recommended by Godaddy. Godaddy indicates that my database info is as follows:
I would appreciate suggestions. Thanks

That usually means that MySQL isn't running - or that it's not running on the server you're trying to connect to ($_DB_host in config.php).
bye, Dirk

Thanks.
I hope you don't get too impatient, but how do I tell if MySQL is running or not running on the server I am trying to connect? (I am using GoDaddy to host my Website and, as indicated, $_DB_host is set to $_DB_host='mysql23.secureserver.net'

Well, if that's the server name GoDaddy gave you then MySQL should be running there. Some ISPs prefer 'localhosts', others prefer a proper name (like 'mysql.example.com').
But if neither of them works and both give you the "Can't connect ... through socket ..." error, then you'll have to talk to GoDaddy.
