Disable Mail Story to a Friend

Is it possible to completely disable this feature somehow? I noticed a web robot was using the form to send out spam for online gambling.

I've set $_CONF['emailstoryloginrequired'] = 1; so that an account has to be created, but is there a way to disable this feature completely?

Any more details on that bot? Was it sending out random articles of your site and included its spam as a comment?

Yup, that was exactly what it was up to. It was doing it at a quite impressive rate.
