I want to pre-load members onto Geeklog and send out a welcome-message to all of them with a randomly-generated password. With my [limited] knowledge of Geeklog, I see these as my options after loading the members:

1. Temporarily modify the layout pages and language-file settings for the "forgot password" pages so that the webpages and resulting email from requesting a password-change will look like an "activate account" option. Use the "mail users" feature in the admin-block to send an email to the users, welcoming them to the site and refering them to the "forgot password" page so they can activate their account. The downfall of this is I can't keep the "forgot password" pages setup as the "activate account" page indefinately.

2. Use the "mail users" feature in the admin-block to send an email to the users, welcoming them to the site and refering them to the "forgot password" page, explaining that they'll need to reset their password because we had to pre-load their accounts. This is probably the easiest, but will seem more awkward to some of the members with high expectations.

3. Pre-assign passwords of some combination, and use the "mail users" feature in the admin-block to send an email to the users, welcoming them to the site and giving them their pre-assigned password. To do this, I would need to assign a "phone number minus birthdate" or some strange thing to make the email apply to everyone. The drawback is that someone could soft-hack another's account, and the members may not change their passwords.

4. Temporary change the language-file settings for the "forgot password" email to seem like a "welcome aboard" email, then manually request a new password for everyone, and then reverse the changes to the language-file settings. This is probably the most seamless, but even at 75 members, it would take a while to get all of the emails requested.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

p.s. I will be pre-loading the members with all of their data, not just their username and email address via the "Batch Add" feature.
