phpBBHacks.com has a script to create a newsfeed from forum posts.

This is a syndication script for a news page with news taken from topics posted on your phpBB.

Is this something that is/may be a workable scenario under GL's forum?

You mean like http://www.geeklog.net/backend/forum_all.rdf ?

The forum does already offer that option, although I think you have to get a patch from Blaine's site for it.
