Put them around the story titles to start with. It's also handy to put a table row on top of your site with the site slogan (with keywords) and give these a H tag.
Dutch Geeklog sites about camping/hiking:
www.kampeerzaken.nl | www.campersite.nl | www.caravans.nl | www.caravans.net

H1, H2, etc. are HTML tags to mark a piece of text as a headline. A headline is, obviously, an important piece of a text and therefore search engines look for it.
If you happen to be using the Professional theme, then the story titles already use H tags (H1 for featured stories, H2 for normal stories). Otherwise, see Geeklog and search engines

Hint: Use the "View page source" (or similar) menu entry in your browser, search for "h1", "h2", etc ...
No, there aren't any of those in there.
However, getting a site to be listed in Google is not something that depends on just one factor (like H1 tags). The FAQ entry I mentioned above lists a few. Also try to get more sites linking to you. So far, Google only seems to have links from geeklog.net, from your own site and one single(!) link from another site. And despite geeklog.net's page rank, those links won't help that much since the topic of your site is so completely different.

Indeed. That's unusal. But then again, the page rank isn't as important as it used to be - it's just one of several contributing factors now.
