Mass changing the link URLs?

Is it possible to do for example a

$str = preg_replace( "article.php", 'nintendo_game_cube_article.php', $str );
or
$str = str_replace( 'article.php', 'nintendo_game_cube_article.php', $str );

some where (lib-common.php?) that will change the URLs in the links all through out the site?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Random guess: Check out the $_CONF['url_rewrite'] option in config.php
