Turn off email confirmation for new members?

Hiya
For some reason, new members aren't getting their confirmation email and therefore can't get into the site. Is there anyway to turn this off so they can create their own password at registration and not have to confirm via email?

What version of GL are you using ?
What is Your Site called, any special characters in the title ?
Is normal email working, meaning can you email an article to yourself ?
Did you check your logs ?
And last but not least did you do a search ?

Hi there,
it's the 1.3.11 GL version. Logs have been checked and I have not had any problems to run similar programs on my server. Not sure what courses the problem.
