Welcome msg currently echos from header.thtml. So it prints on every page. Is it possible to test for the home page only so I can just say if home page, then welcome? How?

how bout just putting the message in a block which only displays on the home page?

That could work, but then it would display along the side of the site. I really like having it displayed horizontally, near the top of the page. I just don't want it on every screen.

then what about creating a static page, check the centerblock option, as well as the Homepage Only option.
