MediaGallery 0.95rc1 and XP Publishing Wizard

Theophile

Anonymous
I am running 0.95rc1 on GL 1.4b1 but I am experiencing problems with using XP Publishing Wizard. I have successfully installed the registry update. I select the pictures I wish to publish and it prompts me for a login. After logging in, the screen displays:

http://www.themerediths.org/images/error.png

The directoryin question has 777 permissions.

Also, I tried to register for an account at the mediagallery.org site to post in those forums but I never received a password email.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Theophile,

This may be an issue with GL14b1, I have not done much testing of the XP Publishing Wizard with GL14b1. Let me try to recreate the problem on this end and see what I can come up with.

As for the account at www.mediagallery.org, I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the logs, there were a few other accounts created this morning, so I'm not sure why you would not have received the email. Could it have been blocked, or moved to a spam folder?

Let me go look at the issues with publishing on GL14b1.

Thanks!
Mark

OK, I've run through my tests on a fresh GL14 install and a fresh Media Gallery install. Everything worked propertly. That doesn't mean there isn't a problem hiding out there, just means it works for me (which it usually does Smile )

So, help me understand the environment a bit if you can. What version of PHP are you running, safe mode on or off? Can you upload normally through the browser to Media Gallery?

What this error is telling me is that the XP Publishing Wizard is trying to set the cookie to show you are authenticated. This should have been set when you logged in, and it should not try to do this again. I'm not sure why it is failing the authenticate check and trying to set the cookie again.

If you click next, does it go ahead and let you choose a directory and upload?

Last question, I promise, can you check your Geeklog config and make sure you have all the SESSION SETTINGS (basically all the cookie_ variables) set correctly. I'm using the defaults on my test system, have you modified yours any?

edit: One last thing, if you could re-upload the xppubwiz.php file to your system, I have seen file corruption cause issues similar to this. I doubt this is the problem, but it is worth trying.

Thanks for your help in finding the issues.

P.S. If you want to email me directly, I'll manually setup your password on www.mediagallery.org - shoot an email to mevans0263@gmail.com.

Thanks for helping me with this!

This install is actually an upgrade from 0.92 and now that I've been looking at it more, there are other anomolies

I am going to remove the plugin and do a fresh install of 0.95rc1 and will report back here

Okay, even after fresh install, I am experiencing the same problem with XP Publishing Wizard. The other problems I had been experiencing are cleared up, however. Here's the info you requested

php 4.4.0 (version in Gentoo portage)
safe mode is off

Uploading through the browser works fine

If, when displaying the error in the screenshot, I click "next," it takes me back to the login screen. I can go through this loop infinitely.

Here is the geeklog config section regarding cookies:
Text Formatted Code
$_CONF['cookie_session']                = 'tmo_session';
$_CONF['cookie_name']                   = 'themerediths';
$_CONF['cookie_password']               = 'password';
$_CONF['cookie_theme']                  = 'theme';
$_CONF['cookie_language']               = 'language';

$_CONF['cookie_ip']                     = 0;
$_CONF['default_perm_cookie_timeout']   = 28800;
$_CONF['session_cookie_timeout']        = 7200;
$_CONF['cookie_path']                   = '/';
$_CONF['cookiedomain']                  = ''; // e.g. '.example.com'
$_CONF['cookiesecure']                  = 0;

I have reloaded xppubwiz.php a few times. I have root access to the machine and download and uncompress the tarball directly on the server.

Thanks for your assistance!

It looks like the cookie is not being set properly, this is a problem I had early on in the development, but thought I had solved (at least I can't duplicate it any longer).

Here is one last experiment to try... Log into your site using Internet Explorer, after you have logged in with IE (don't log out), try using the Publishing Wizard. It should use the same cookies that IE is using. If that works, then it tells me I still need to make the session code work a little better in the Wizard.

Thanks!

Well, not sure if this is your problem, but I have uncovered another issue in the publishing wizard. Can you check your user account under "Account information" and see what you have the "Remember Me For" set to? If you set it to 0, it will break the publishing wizard (I'll get that fixed for the next release candidate). Any chance yours is set to 0?

Thanks!

The "remember me for" field was a non-zero.

However, if I logged into the site in IE, then minimized it and tried the Publishing Wizard, it worked perfectly! Looks like it's the session code after all.

Hope this helps!

It does help, I'll work on this tonight and see if I can get it working all the time!

Thanks for working through this with me, you've been a great help!

Here's another issue that might be related.

Apparently, only the root account can use the XP Publishing Wizard. I have a regular user account that has all mediagallery permissions (edit, create, upload, admin) and this account can create albums and upload via the web interface, but cannot use XP Pub...

When it gets to the point to select the album, it says:
There are no albums or you do not have permission to upload to any albums
