When I checked my site this morning everything was fine. I am the only person, outside of the host, that is allowed to touch any backend stuff. Even they "Can't" do it without my permission.

So half way through the day I go to check on my site and see the following:

http://www.silenthillresorts.com/

This is not good. I have no idea what happened, but all the tricks I do know are not working.

Anyone have any idea?

put up a regular index.html page and see if the same thing happens, i.e., if your quotes are being escaped inappropriately.

this will at least let you know if it is Geeklog or your host.

also, have you done anything to your site since it was working? plugins? java?

btw, once you take out all 2062 backslashes, it looks pretty nice. Leaves me speechless

That's the thing, I didn't touch the site. I was at work and no one else has access.

I am seriously thinking my host did something to the servers, upgraded software that broke gl and phpbb.

Tell your hosting service that they should switch magic_quotes_runtime back to "off".

bye, Dirk

Same thing happened to my site - and now I've really messed it up trying to re install etc.

Are you with surpass?

the host did do something.

a motherboard got Kentucky Fried on Monday. They replaced it, and did a backup from a corrupt one. The etc folder is all screwed.

I am with dizzinc. I have quite a few tickets in to them, but no idea when they are going to fix it. Soon, or else they are going to be cutting me a check for lost revenue.

I will put in another ticket for your suggestion, dirk. Thanks for it. Smile

I contacted surpass and they said

"Hello,

I switched magic_quotes_runtime back to off.

I am going to forward this up to an admin to see if there was a reason for it changing."

However both my Geeklog sites are messed up in the same way.

Doh! - that was a mistake

dude, I am an idiot. Serves me right posting on the way out the door early in the morning.

I am hosted with surpass.

They have royally screwed us up, man. No idea what is going on. Looks like they messed up the mysql and php. I noticed that phpmyadmin is much different then it was, so I think they may have upgraded it. Hopefully the update didn't break gl, cause that would be much suckage.

You read that?

I know - one of my blogs had just gone crazy and was getting 12000 readers a day - now it's destroyed and I've wasted two days trying to reinstall etc -

They have passed my support ticket up to level 3 - whatever that means.

The site linked above was set to hit one million hits this month so far. Has become quite popular, have a contest going on, etc.

Was just getting a good influx of users, paid advertisers were just starting to come around, and my affiliate advertising was starting to pay off.

Really bad timing on this.

I just don't see why they don't move us to another server until they get this straightened out.

Also doing a fresh install of geeklog using fantastico gives this error

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/derekpye/public_html/lib-common.php(973) : eval()'d code on line 90

They admitted to me that the php install on the server is messed.

I have so many tickets into them I lost count....I don't have the funds to switch hosts at the moment, especially seeing as how I paid up 100GB bandwidth until the end of February with these folks.

I moved to surpass because my last host messed up my xoops sites and refused to change back the server - I can't beleive this is happening again! - moving everything is a pain.

Last update on this one.

They fixed php and mysql. It would seem that the motherboard failure had corrupted my posting.php file in my phpbb install, getting rid of over 1000 lines of code in the process. Quick upload of a backup and all is good.

Now if I could just get gl to upgrade....
