i have changed the layout files to remove the views tag that shows readers how many times a story has been read with no problem

but now i have added two new writers and all of their stories have the
"views" item in the story header...??!! but only them.

all other stories ( from older users) the views items is gone.

what could be causing this?

Did you remove the "views" item from all the story template files (note that there are several) and from all the themes?

well i thought i had, but i went back after your post and the first file i opened: archivestorytext still had it...once removed it resolved.

thanks - sorry for the post. i really try to use news posts here as a last resort since it takes time from others.
