Sudden sql problem

confused
My geeklog site that I haven't made any changes to lately, suddenly today displays the wonderful "An SQL error has occurred. Please see error.log for details." message.

I'm running Geeklog 1.40b1 (haven't had time to upgrade to rc1 yet)

My error.log shows this:

Tue 03 Jan 2006 07:01:01 EST - 1030: Got error 28 from table handler. SQL in question: SELECT STRAIGHT_JOIN s.*, UNIX_TIMESTAMP(s.date) as day, u.username, u.fullname, u.photo, t.topic, t.imageurl FROM gl_stories as s, gl_users as u, gl_topics as t WHERE (s.uid = u.uid) AND (s.tid = t.tid) AND (date = 2) AND (s.tid IN ('Work')) ORDER BY featured DESC, date DESC LIMIT 0, 10
