I'm running menu 1.6.1_1.3.6 in geeklog 1.3.11sr2 and I've run into a problem. Say I have a menu catagory "pets" and sub categories "current pets", "pet history" and "pet stories". The first two sub-categories point at static pages and the third is a story category.
The sub-categories work fine. I click on "pets", the subs are revealed, and clicking on "pet history", for instance, points me at the proper static page.
When I click on the top category "pets", what is displayed in the center block is the website main page. So I created another static page "pets", made the menu item "Pets_" a URL with the address of the static page in the URL field, saved it out, and when I click on "Pets", I get... the website main page. What am I doing wrong? I'd like to have a splash page for the main category, which is displayed when the main category is clicked. Is this even possible?
Ron

More info -- When I removed the trailing underbar from the category "Pets", the static page displays, but not the sub categories. When I add back the trailing underbar, the sub categories become available but the main category goes back to displaying the site's default center block. So apparently, you can have a unique static page for a category, or you can have sub categories, but not both.
It'd be nice if the top category could have a static intro page. "We have pets. We have lots of pets. Click on the sub categories to view current pets, past pets, or pet stories." The only way I can see to do this is to eliminate the sub categories and have them as links in the intro page. But that's ugly and kinda defeats the purpose of having a menu editor.
Or am I missing something?
Ron (I'd be glad to be wrong about this.)
