How can I modify the ‘display all story titles & intros in the topic’ page to reverse order, - so that the most recently posted stories show up at the bottom of the page rather than at the top?
(it's for an online book)

What I mean is the order that stories are listed in the 'sections' or 'topics' pages. EG:
http://www.geeklog.net/index.php?topic=Geeklog2
I thought I found it in Admin>Story.php > function liststories($page = 1) :
ORDER BY date DESC - asc
But changing that doesn't do it...
BTW - What does the Sort Order entry box in the Topics Admin actually do? I can't see any visible change anywhere when I try different values...

This thing really bugged me too. It should really be a default choice plus a per topic one (like, say, "number of stories per page"). Geeklog takes for granted everyone wants the newest things on top and what can I do, I had a client who didn't...
If you're in a hurry, just "cheat" Geeklog by giving the newest stories the oldest dates and vice versa. If Geeklog also allowed to make the date dissapear without having to edit the template (like "author" and "views") no one would have even noticed that.
As for the thing you don't understand, what's its exact name? I assume by your words it decides on the order of the topics in the topics' menu.

You can also write one continuous story by using the new "page break" feature. Only it's still experimental as it doesn't work in sites that use url rewrite (like demo.geeklog.net) and there are two page 1 (one is just the intro and the other the intro + the body).

Yeah I know, but think about the kind of work that takes if you have over a hundred (pages) stories in 10 (chapters) topics. Fiddling with the dates in each story and keeping track of them so as to be able to enter an earlier date with each new entry gets ridiculous.

admin/topic.php?mode=edit > Sort Order: [ ] (just under Topic ID)
Yes I assumed the same, but can see no visible effect when I change the value. A minor curiosity...

This is very intriguing! I have no idea how this works, but need this feature. I just searched this site for "page break" and "pagebreak", but came up with nada. Care to elaborate?

Why don't you just say "when you edit a given topic"...? I thought you meant the user's preferences...
Anyway, it is the topics' order! But it's only good if
$_CONF['sortmethod'] = 'sortnum';
As for page_break, it's only mentioned here.
To use it, just write [page_break] each time...you need a page break.
But I wouldn't use it until they fixed it (its none working status in url_rewrite mode and its bad relations with introtext).
