I noticed this morning that my Older Stories block had stopped posting our older stories. I had upgraded to 1.4.0 2 weeks ago, and seems to have stopped around that time.
So I went into the blocks admin... and disabled the blocks, and then re enabled Older Stories... now it doesn't show up at all on the page. before the stories just weren't being updated - now after disable/re enable - it doesn't show up at all?
Any ideas what I might have done to cause this?

Sorry for not being very clear.
Since the most recent upgrade to 1.4.0 the older stories block is still there but it no longer lists the older stories it is stuck in the past and will no longer update.
Have I missed some of the template files or maybe something in one of the other other files?
Have been unable to locate anything helpful in the forum about this issue except fopr this one post which has no solution offered.
Thanks much.
EDIT: THIS Was a use problem. Stories were being put into topic only manually and if the story is under topic only it does not show in the older stories block. Only stories with show on homepage flagged shows in older stories.

So from what I understand you are only seeing blocks on the homepage?
If so, then I believe I have the same problem. Upgraded from 1.3.x to geeklog-1.4.0sr4, and now many blocks do not show up.
I've played around and found the following:
- blocks show up properly on the homepage
- absolutely no blocks show up in stories anymore. blocks set to show up on all pages also do not show up in stories (including the admin block)
- blocks appear to show up properly in static pages
I did a diff on article.php to see what's changed, and discovered that our old one had a bit of custom code. I tried copying over some of the old code, but it didn't help. I guess I should get the regular article.php and see what the difference is...
fyi if you're going to poke around:
index.php = the homepage
article.php = the stories
staticpages/index.php = the staticpages
also from looking at the top of article.php I see it uses these 2 libs as well:
lib-common.php
$_CONF['path_system'] . 'lib-story.php'
I'd look into article.php first.
hope this helps someone
[edit] just tried using the old, unmodified article.php; didn't display anything (completely blank page); then I tried our modified version and got the blocks back... for now I'll use the old modified article.php (with some fixes) and make a note of it for next time we update.

I notice that my user function block where users login is not there, when I log off. For guest users I have no topics (articles) showing. Just a staticpage where it tells my guest users you must "register for an account". For users that have an account cant login unless I tell them to go to wesbsite/users.php and the userblock functions are shown there. I am using the latest version of geeklog.
