What if you simply tried it?
Quote by LWC: What if my own articles have outdated Trackbacks and Pingbacks?
Outdated / broken links are not a problem unique to Trackbacks ...

Is this a hint Geeklog actually sends a ping once I delete a story?
If so, doesn't it mean one can fake this ping to delete's people's trackbacks?
And what about none story trackbacks (the ones I can create globally)? They're not even stored in my site, are they? If so, there's nothing to delete in order to make them be deleted from the remote sites (unless you plan to add a pingdelete to the global utility...).

Yes, but regular links are under my control (unless they're in comments). Is there a way to edit/delete local trackbacks without doing it via PHPMyAdmin?

Have you even used a site running 1.4.0 yet? There's a nice "delete" link under each and every Trackback.
And, no, Geeklog will not send Pings for deleted stories. It rejects Trackbacks and Pingbacks for stories that have been deleted (or never existed or to which anonymous users don't have access).

There's no such thing as a "pingdelete" in either the Trackback or the Pingback protocols.
There's a working group currently looking into improving the Trackback protocol. You may want to bring this up with them.
