transparent images

I'm having a problem creating transparent images that will work on my geeklog site.

The site is "professional" style -- new 'out of the box'.

I have tried everything and images are fine against other backgrounds. Also have downloaded a few transparent images and some do work.

I am creating my images with photoshop in png-24 format. Tried gif and png-8 -- same issue.

The images come up with a light grey background when displayed on site. Very frustrating, and I know it must be that I'm missing something fundamental. Any ideas?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Internet Explorer only displays transparent GIF images correct, which means index transparency. Transparent PNG images are only possible with 'Gecko' browsers like Mozilla, Firefox and Safari.
