Migration Timing

Hi.
I am migrating Geeklog from one server to another. Is it possible to setup Geeklog on the new server before changing the name servers? I'm thinking that I might be able to use the IP address of my site in config.php to do the initial setup, then change it to the actual URL and change the name servers.
Is there anything I should know before I try this (including a better way to do this)?
Thanks.
Julianna

You can use a temporary URL or an IP address for the new site before the switchover. You only have to be aware that when you edit stories, that temporary address may be stored, e.g. in the What's Related links or used for uploaded images.
