Need Upgrade Help

I'm upgrading to 1.4. and I unpacked the zip file and I'm wondering where do these folders that are outside the public_html folder should be placed in my server. I have a www directory, which I access using an ftp client, and below that there is public_html and a bunch of other directories for another website. Should I place the folders here as in my installation package or place them all under public_html?

Well, if you're upgrading - where are the files now? Your config.php, especially. That should give you an idea how to set things up.

bye, Dirk

config.php is in public_html. So does that mean all the folders in the installation package should be placed under public_html folder on my server?

Ugh. Wrong place entirely. Who set this up? Shocked

Try Alternative installation instructions and Installing Geeklog entirely within the web root

bye, Dirk

Visual overview was very helpful. I guess the guy who set this up didn't know where to place the folders and so he put every single folder under the public_html, and that threw me off a bit too because the instructions are a bit vague on this. I'm now going to transfer the upgrade folders to the top level directory and remove the extraneous contents from the public_html. It's going to get messy. But I'm surprised that the site worked as well as it did under such a faulty setup.

Thanks, Dirk.
