Adding Originating Author to comment form

I would like to add the username of the orignal contributer to the comment form. I have tried adding

to commentform.thtml bit it does not show up. How do I do this?

Do you want to add the story author's name to the comment form? That's not possible, I'm afraid.

Well, yes that was the goal. It seems that when a person is replying to a post, they have this thing where they want to be able to say I agree with you "name", but the name is not visible so they guess and usually get it wrong. So I don't need it as a post field on submit like the title. I only want to pull the name from the database so that it is visible so that the person commenting knows who they are commenting to.

This really is not possible?
