Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2480 bytes) in /var/www/htdocs/geeklog/public_html/mediagallery/lib-upload.php on line 331

I created an album, then went to add media. I browsed to the file and hit save. The file I uploaded was 83kb. I get the above message. Can someone help me?

Thanks,

Oh yeah, I'm using the latest Media Gallery (downloaded/installed today), and GL 1.4.0sr2.

Good Morning!

This one is pretty easy to fix. You need to increase the memory_limit variable in your php.ini file. From the error message it appears to be set at 8M which usually is not large enough for the graphics packages to process large images. Most folks start around 32M as the setting and then tweak up/down to meet their needs (size is dependent on which graphics package you have selected, how large the image is, etc...).

If you can edit the php.ini file yourself, easy to do, but if you are not sure where to find it or how to modify it, please check with your hosting provider. The instructions are very dependent on the provider so there really isn't a generic answer on how to edit the php.ini file.

Hope this helps, let me know if it takes care of the problem.

Thanks!
Mark
