Date/Time only show in certain topics?

I've searched for about 30 minutes now with no luck, closest I could find was this thread
Lets say I have Topic1, Topic2 & Topic 3. Where it says "Written by" etc, I only want it to show the date/time for Topic1, not Topic2 or Topic3. Is there a way to do this, and what would that way be?

A little bump And maybe I should clarify as I realize I didn't before, the date/time should only show in stories for Topic1, not Topic 2 or 3. Thanks

The only way I can see doing this without code modifications is to (ab)use the archive topic.
In the Topic options, you can mark one topic as your archive topic. All stories posted in that topic will then use the archivestory*.thtml template files instead of the normal story*.thtml files.
But (and that's a pretty big "but"), stories in the archive topic are not displayed on the front page ...
bye, Dirk
