SQL problem all of a sudden

No upgrades done, no changes .... GL 1.3.11 tree
Suddenly the message "An SQL error has occured. Please see error.log for details"

Cannot find any relevant details either in the log files.
Only two news item and may be one or two comments were added.

When I do a restore from a back up things work again. I revert back to that again the error appears.

I have seen the forums and faq but nothing similar resolutive thing found.

The problem is that if I cant find the error and if its going to happen again .... or when and how it will happen I dont know

This comes as VERY surprising to me as GL has been running rock solid

BTW I saw some solutions like :

Try this: Find the place in phpMyAdmin where you can enter SQL requests and type
SELECT * FROM gl_group_assignments WHERE ug_uid = 1;
This should list one entry where ug_main_grp_id = 2.
Only(!) if you do not get that entry, do this:
INSERT INTO gl_group_assignments VALUES (2, 1, NULL);
Also check that in your gl_groups table, there is a group with grp_id = 2 and grp_name = "All Users".

But I find all these are OK Sad

Any help ? Any clue ?

Are you hosted on iPower by any chance?

My blog is hosted on iPower, and I'm getting the same damn error, some 5-8 times a day. Very frustrating.

I just got off the phone with their tech support, and the reason they gave me (which it turns out I already knew via phpMyAdmin) is that my site is surpassing the 50K queries per hour limit they've set. Their limit is not adjustable, they tell me.

The tech guy I spoke to said I have one of two options:

1. 'Re-code my site' to enable more than one SQL database user, or
2. Sign up for their VPS hosting.

Since they've ticked me off to the point that I really don't want to give them any more money, can anyone cue me in on how to re-code GL for more than one database user?

Or, failing that, point me to a hosting company that's more competent than iPower? Thanks in advance.

No I am not hosted with i power - yes some host do have that mysql problem, and thus sometimes database based cms sucks for us who can afford only shaed hosting ...

In my cas it is myown test server ( testing various cmses for the last one year or more ) and theres no reason why this shud have happened

Digging thru the forum I find there are VARIOUS situations where this error happens ..... cant pinpoint my mine .... Sad

Don,

This part is not clear :
'Re-code my site' to enable more than one SQL database user

What do they mean ?
Is changing host an option ? You can try jaguarpc or if vps, servint

Previously when I used to see this sql probs Iused to thought :"hey this is not goping to happen to me" LOL

I'm waiting for an email from tech support explaining what exactly they mean by 're-code my site.'

Once I get details, I'll come back and ask again. Smile

If you don't see any SQL errors listed in your error.log, then make sure that file is writable.

bye, Dirk
