newyorker,

You are close, but it looks like you missed one step in the initial installation process...

You created the public_html/admin/plugins/mediagallery/ directory and copied the files from plugins/mediagallery/admin/ there. But, you also need to:

create public_html/mediagallery/ and copy all the files from plugins/mediagallery/public_html/ there.

Once you do this, you should be ready to go, give the install a try again and I'll bet it will work much better!

Let me know if you have any other problems or questions.

Thanks!
Mark

newyorker,

You might want to check out the online documentation wiki at http://www.mediagallery.org, that will help you get started.

To create a new album (and to upload items to it), go into Media Gallery (not the admin, but just plain ol' Media gallery) and look for the drop down menus on the top line of Media Gallery. This is where you will do the bulk of the work with Media Gallery (adding albums, uploading stuff, etc).

Good luck!

I just installed "Media gallery" plugin in my website and now I can see Media Gallery only in my admin menu and in user menu(with user preferences).I don't see how I can make album categorys.When I go in my admin menu and i click on link Media Gallery i got:
Quote:
Media Gallery Administration - 1.2.6
Most of the administration features are available directly in the user interface.

* Configuration

* EXIF/IPTC Administration

* Usage Reports

* Media Queue (0)

* Usage Documentation

* PHP Information

* Import Wizards

* XP Publishing Wizard Installation

* Geeklog Log Viewer

What i suposed to do?I see Media Gallery only in admin and I can't see just plain Media gallery.
I don't see option to make albums .My media gallery plugin is enabled.In blocks,"random image" is enabled..

newyorker,

Depending on what theme you are using with Geeklog will control where the plugins menu option will appear. For example, using the Professional theme that comes with Geeklog, on the very top line in the browser you have various menu options, Media Gallery would show up there.

But, in the event you are not using a theme that shows the plugin items in a menu, you can add it to whatever navigation you use. The URL to get to the 'standard' Media Gallery view is:

http://www.yoursitehere.com/mediagallery/index.php

Obviously, replace the www.yoursitehere.com with your web site's URL. Also, if you have installed Geeklog in a sub-directory you may need to add that to your url as well. An example, if your URL for your website is:

http://www.yoursitehere.com/public_html/index.php, then Media Gallery's URL would be:

http://www.yoursitehere.com/public_html/mediagallery/index.php.

Once you get into the Album view, it will tell you there are no albums to display, but look at the dropdown menu in the upper right hand corner of the Media Gallery view and you will see 'Create Album' as one of its options. Choose it and you are off and running!

Thanks!
Mark

newyorker,

It looks like you copied the files from plugins/mediagallery/public_html/* to the public_html/admin/plugins/mediagallery/ directory. What you should do is:

copy:

plugins/mediagallery/admin/* to public_html/admin/plugins/mediagallery/*

then copy

plugins/mediagallery/public_html/* to public_html/mediagallery/*

Give that a try and it should get you going again.

Thanks!
