By default I believe most web hosts limit uploads to 2M in size. You should be able to increase this with a custom php.ini file. I was able to use the scripts on these pages when I had to do the same thing for my site:

Thanks i will try the above. i found other post's on the forum but the advice don't seem to work. i have tried the php.ini file with changing the upload size and .htaccess advice but that just crashes the site.

I will try the above tip you gave and also asked my host to increase the files upload size

Thanks

Just a report back,
i have asked my support to increase the file size & that should happen. i what would be nice is if the kind of problems be included in the setup file as i noticed a lot of ??? on the forum on the same issue.

i am busy installing the forum now and something small most probaly have to be changed (i think global-settings or something)

Now what would be realy nice if all of these plugins can just be included with main packages and then (us) the beginners can just delete/activate etc. the plugins we need

Anycase i have learned a lot more concerning php

Greetings,
i though i would do a small report on my forum installation. For the beginners when you install the forum and it just returns with no indication why it is not installing this is how you fix it.

1) Firstly you have to turn the global_settings to on. If you can't do it ask your host to do it but mine told me they can't turn it on for the whole server as it can be a security problem (not sure why)

2) If they can't then you make a php.ini file with the instruction global_settings=on and upload this file into all the directories that uses the forum and it should work

i have now installed the file mngth and the forum and is very happy with the way gl works

Greetings
