OK i have followed the instructions on both the birthday and forum installations and both give the same response.

They wont install.

I am at a total loss as to what i am doing...

I've read all the posts and replies on this issue and have followed all the legitimate suggestions.

I have put the php.ini stating "register_globals = on" in all the appropriate directories.

Would someone break this down to stupid so i can understand it?

Since the php.ini method you tried doesn't seem to work - did you try adding the line from this FAQ entry to your .htaccess?

How register_globals can be enabled (if at all) depends on the server's configuration. So for a definitive answer, you may want to contact your hosting service.

bye, Dirk

Big Celebration

Dirk you ROCK!!!

I tried everything i read in posts by you and blaine, with no luck!
I saw the above post but it looked greek to me and wasn't sure how to do that... I just spent the last hour or so trying to find the .htacces file in my tarbal extract and in other files from the installation... guess what...
I couldn't find it....
I looked online through my servers ftp panel and stumble on to that file...
after simply choosing edit and pasting the code you suggested (with much thanks and respect) IT WORKS!!!

You rock! and thanks for putting up with this neophyte!
