I am trying to submit stories containing a flash movie in my geeklog site.
here's the code I want to include in my story:
<embed width="352" height="240"
src="/videos/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf"
flashvars="&MM_ComponentVersion=1&skinName=/videos/Clear_Skin_2&streamName=/videos/pub_juliette&autoPlay=false&autoRewind=false">
</embed>
I've added the embed tag and relevant options in config.php to avoid html filtering.
If I use the tradional editor, it works fine. the video file is displayed correctly.
However, if I use FCKeditor, it doesn't work. Instead, the following code replaces what I submit :
<img src="http://sitename.com/fckeditor/editor/images/spacer.gif" alt="" />
After lots of testing I realized it only does this if the src option string ends with swf. If I replace the swf letters with something else (anything), the original submission is not changed.
I am wondering why FCKeditor strips everything if the embedded source is an swf file. I've looked in the code and indeed there seem to be some special handling if the src variable ends with swf - not sure why. I've tried to modify it but with no luck (I am no expert!)
What shall I do? forget about FCKeditor and go back to traditional one? Or how can I tell fckeditor to accept embedded flash movies?
thanks!

Two options. Use MediaGallery plugin. That's the best plugin I've ever come across in my four years with Geeklog. Using that, to show video on your story is as simple as dropping in an autotag.
Second option is FCKeditor comes with a Flash upload feature, with the Flash button in the toolbar, usually next to the image button. You must use that or FCKeditor would strip the code. You might have to enable that feature in the config file, I forgot how I did it. But now I only use MediaGallery.
Hope this helps!
