It only does this when I place my geeklog files in the root dir (not in the httpdocs url where the public_html files are). As soon as I seperate them, it gives me this error.

I read about corrupt installs; but it keeps doing this. I'm at a loss!

Actually, I suspect it's your editor. Line 2607 contains some HTML entities and it's possible that your editor is messing things up there. Try another one.
