Blogger/WP templates --> GL themes?

I know it's probably more complicated than building a fully functional space shuttle out of Lego, but what would it take to (even roughly) port a Blogger template for use with Geeklog? Blogger and WordPress seem to have aesthetics pretty well nailed. As much as I adore Geeklog, most of the themes look a bit dated and lack that modern punch of style and sophistication.

Anyway, hope I haven't ruffled any feathers. I am a GL fiend for life! Just want to dress it up a bit.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm trying to figure out if I can port one of these templates to GL. I'll keep you posted in this thread, will take a month or two.

I'm working on creating a silky sleek one... but have no clue as to when it will be ready to release into the wild.

Maybe by Christmas??? Leaves me speechless

Ni!

I've been able to adapt one of Andreas Viklund's templates (1024px) for geeklog.
See my example here.

And if there is enough interest I will post a download, so let me know. Smile

Also - if it does not look right in your browser let me know that too. Smile

I am also trying to learn how to theme geeklog. I am studying the css sites (csszengarden). You can take a look see here I am using axonz theme to modify. I am still working the port. Laughing

suprsidr: The site really looks good. But it displays incorrectly on Safari (mac Web Browser). The right side is extending off the right column

I am interested in your theme! please email me at samuel AT kents.mine.nu

GOOD JOB!

As for the safari browser, you are on your own as I don't have a mac to test with.

Ok, give it a try, and if you figure out the safari issues, let me know.

Probably the fix for ie that broke safari. I added a 140px left padding to the body for ie.

I've also had some pretty good success with andreas09. It comes in various colors (I chose black).
See it here.

- again let me know any comments or viewing problems.

suprsidr,

Very nice! Great work!

One thing I have noticed. In your port of andreas1024, go into your config.php and disable the advanced editor and watch what happens to the theme when you refresh the home page. On my site, the font sizes and margins get shifted.

See, therein lies the problem.
Getting geeklog to behave was not my problem. Its all the plugins that were tough to get looking acceptable.

The reason I implied that I had "pretty good success" with andreas09, is that geeklog looks great. Its just gallery, jinzora, totalcalendar, Glforums, filemngmt..... and now you remind me that fckeditor also has it's hand in the mess.
Geeze Louise!

I'm now remembering where the true outer margin resides Smile

All I can say is thankfully I'm not planning on disabling fckeditor.
But this may be why it looks funny in safari, I disable fck for safari by default.

I'll take another look.

I got most of the kinks out for Safari. I am still playing around with styles.css. I remodding the theme for a new idea I have, but I can't get the background color to display. It will only display on Safari, but on IE or FF it is a no go. take a gander here. I have a background image in the center repeating, but my backgroud color should be black not white.
