Will PHPLinks work in GL 1.4?

I was about to ask exactly the same question!

Due to the relative hassle of integrating the script (though admittedly following Squatty's excellent instructions) I have not updated my site since 1.3.9. I now wish to bring the site completely up to date but as the links part of the site is integral to the site, I cannot do this without phplinks working (integrated in geeklog).

The most up to date reference I have seen on here is to an updated integration to 1.3.11 (http://www.geeklog.net/filemgmt/index.php?id=590) but there seems to be little comment about it (whether it works or not) and I am not a programmer so could not say if it would work with 1.4.0.

I hope that someone can help us.

Many thanks

This would be useful if someone has managed to get it to play nicely with 1.4.0.

I have checked over on Squatty.com but his site is overloaded with spam entries - is anyone is in touch with him to let him know? It is a shame he is no longer maintaining it (or the phplinks plug in) as it is a useful addition to GL.

Many thanks

I was unable to find a working email address for him last time I tried (a few weeks ago), unfortunately.

The major difference, and therefore why it is not as straightforward, is that Links has now been separated and moved to a plug-in, rather than being integrated into the core. This is a great development for GL but a headache if you are using phplinks (unless someone can see a workaround).

Although I can go through and compare the lib-common.php file to see where the changes were made (indeed I have spent the evening doing this - what fun!), they are no longer relevant with 1.4.0 given this major change. Doh! - that was a mistake

I am therefore stumped - I am not a programmer and therefore cannot update my site to close all the security problems since 1.3.9 and to benefit from all the really useful updates (I have other sites running GL without phplinks and therefore can see the developments).

Hopefully someone with the skills, time and inclination will now work on phplinks as a plug in or be able to suggest a work around so that it can be integrated in 1.4.0.

Has anyone been working on getting this working with GL 1.4.1 yet please or spotted a workaround?

Many thanks

I looked into PHPLinks once. A good script but it would be to messy to integrate into geeklog. What functionality are you looking for that the links plugin doesn't offer?
