Homepage article listing function(s)?

I'm looking for the function or functions that will call the list of articles that are displayed on the home page. I'm creating a custom php-enabled static page to replace the entire homepage, and I'd like to have the article listing for the homepage to be called within the static page.

Any ideas? I will gladly pay a developer for this information if necessary.

There is no single function for that. The code is in index.php.
