too much user registration

since a few months I have a lot of new user registration on my geeklog site. this are all "spam" registration. at the time I am deleting them, but they return every day.
has someone the same problem? who can I stop this registrations?
do you now because they register their name and e-mail? there are a lot of strange characters.
