I have a number of Geeklog sites, if I backup and copy the files under the web directory,
wopuld the database backup I made contain all the relevent plugin data as well.
So a reinstall on another server might only require a copy of all the web server files and a manual database reinstall ?

yes, all data related to the plugins is in the database unless the plugin also has external files like the filemgmt plugin (downloads) or medialibrary (images and other media). If you backup all the files under the GL installation then you would be getting all these plugin files, GL core files and the theme related files.

The restoration of the database will restore all the plugins as installed, enabled as the original site.
