Does anybody know it there is a hack how to get email notifications also for answers to a comment? The author of the story should get an email that there is a new comment and also the comment writer should receive an email if there is a reply to that comment.

It would be a bit like the forum email notification.

Anyone else thinking this is a problem?

E.g. if you read Darren Rowse http://www.problogger.net/ you will understand that you need to build a dialogue with your readers. Now this is very difficult if you only have a one way as the reader that posts a comment will not receive a notification of you ( admin / blogger ) answering.

So I suggest that in 'My Account' there should be a tick box under 'Comment Display' which says 'notify me of replies'

Other blog software got this as a standard or at least as plugin.

This is what I meant. I think it is an absolutely necessary function for pro blogging.

Hm, the wordpress plugin called 'Subscribe to Comments' http://txfx.net/code/wordpress/subscribe-to-comments/ also manages anonymous users and identifies them by email. This is one more step user friendly.

As for me, I`d like that too
