jcap- GL_captcha_hack
neon
Anonymous
I have the "jcap" GL_captcha_hack running to try to prevent Bots from Automatically registering.
It took a while to get it not to give errors. But it still doesn't quite work.
Before I go on-
My geeklog system isn't installed "before the root" folder like normal. My hosting service doesn't allow access to that. Anyways, here are the errors I am getting with JCAP.
The random images show up as a broken image.
http://www.clanH3.com
I'm sure this is due to the fact that my system isn't installed in front of the root,..but I can't figure out how to fix it so that the jcap images are called correctly.
Can anyone please help?

Sweet jesus-
That is NOT a solution. FYI, 80% of all hosting comapnies DON'T let you do that.
If you can't help, please don't post.

Okay..you have your cimg dir in the correct place. Obviously you had changed your custommembership file, so thats working, however, make sure you put this script just after/below (lang_message) tag
<form action="{post_url}" method="post">
Make sure the script below is in your header just above the should be fine and that the paths are set correctly to the files
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="md5.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="jcap.js"></script>
Everything should work as intended.
BTW, I registered on your system with a little help from reading my own images
Edit: I don't know why the code was removed after saving this but this is the second time I had to input the code.

Sounds determinism! Where did you get that 80% stats? If that is true, Geeklog is facing a major obsticle to become widely used.
I am trying to help by talking you out of that kind of host. If I were you, I wouldn't stick with it if I know there are still 20% out there that would meet my need.
Another question. Have you tried the captcha from www.mediagallery.org? Ever since this came out I removed the jcap hack.
I installed jcap hack before, successfully, but it shows java script error on IE6, even though FireFox doesn't show. The point is, even if you installed it successfully, you still have to live with the java script error.
Hope this helps!

Yep...I had that same error too but, I looked and looked til I figured out what was causing it to do that. So i moved the
Text Formatted Code
<form action="{post_url}" method="post">However, as soon as Marks Captcha came out from Mediagallery.org, I tested it and ran with that instead, because it is more difficult for the spammers/hackers to bypass it. I would also recommend using Marks captcha.
