"Anonymous" user shows up in Who's New Bloc

just wondering if it's normal to have a user called "anonymous" show up in who's new.
the user id is "1".

Yes. Anybody not logged in will use the user id 1 - anonomous user.

Geeklog has an account called "Anonymous" which is the shared (pseudo) account used for all non-logged in users of your site. It's uid is 1 (which is also why your Admin account is #2).
However, the account should never show up anywhere as such. Looking at the code for the Who's New block, I can see how that could happen, though: When your site is new and you don't have a lot of users yet.
I guess it's time for an overhaul of that block: It should only list users that have logged in at least once, it should respect a user's privacy settings, and it certainly shouldn't list the Anonymous user ...
