Upgrade registration issues
I just did a new install of 1.4rc1 and have some login issues and profile problems. When a new user tries to register they get the following message:
I also get the same message when I try to change the user preferences. Since there is no confirmation email block it is impossible to make sure they match.
I know this must be something simple but I cannot find it or anyone else having the same problem. I checked the forums but didn't find anything similar.
Please make sure that the email address and the confirmation email address are the same.

I'll bet you are not using the Professional theme? New in v1.4.1 is a requirement that the email be entered twice for confirmation before registering. Check the included professional theme's users/registrationform.thtml file to see how it is implemented. You'll probably need to duplicate that in your theme.
Now, if you are using the included professional theme, are you sure you copied over all the new template files on upgrade?
Hope this helps....

Thank you! You are correct that I was not using the Professional theme. That fixed the problem. Now I can get moving on the rest of the site. Thanks again, especially for the fast response.
