I need some shopping cart solution that plugs in nicely with my geeklog site. Is there a plugin for geeklog that plugs in nicely? What about ZenCart, does anyone use it as a shopping cart solution for their geeklog sites? If there is a solution out there can you please direct me to the download and help me with some install instructions? An example of a site that uses the shopping cart solution would be helpful, also. There used to be a plugin that was done with OSCommerce but it was abandoned. When it first came out it was great, but now it's now horribly out of date, and probably won't work with the latest version of geeklog. I'm using it (cludged together with chicken wire and spit) but because of that I'm still running 1.3.9 until I can find a solution to the ecommerce/shopping cart issue. Of course I'm also trying to change my layout, which is the number one thing you NEVER want to have to do in oscommerce... It would be great if someone could actually get a cart type thing to work within the geeklog framework (IE using blocks, css styles, etc) instead of trying to tack something on. I would be willing to put up a couple bucks towards this bounty myself. Of course I would do it myself if I knew PHP better too...

Well, it certainly looks interesting. As soon as I find some spare time I'll install a test site somewhere.

Many thanks for your efforts! Big Grin

I'm sorry, but this is not clear to me. Can you please tell me if you think the plugin itself is not secure, or if there's a problem with the user agreement on zencart? If there's a security risk with the programming maybe i can hire a programmer to fix it, and if it's a problem with the end user agreement, i'll read through it and let you know if i find a problem. thanks.

It is not the problem of UserAgreement of ZenCart.
Only the possibility can not be merely denied.

For example, the configuration file of Geeklog is placed in the secret area but the configuration file of ZenCart is in the making public area.
Course A measure by .htaccess and so on has been done.
However, it isn't doing a risk check strictly.
Therefore, it isn't possible to guarantee.

Wishing to use about its responsibility because it is possible to do no guarantee here even if it supposes that the damage occurred with the bug and so on.

Does anyone have any further information regarding the possible security issues with using zencart and geeklog?

Has anyone installed this on a non-japanese site and got it working?

cheers :shakehands:

Well, I doubt if I can get it working the way I want it. There's still an awfull lot of that ugly ZenCart template visible, but it seems to work if you do not forget to download and install Zencart as well, see www.boeken-winkel.nl/shop

Well, basicly it's a normal Zen Cart installation with some plugin files inside, so it shouldn't be more insecure than any onther Zen cart installation. The user databases are different, and the databases do not have to be shared, so security problems wit Zen Cart do not have to affect GL.

Yes, but do you speak Dutch? I got it 90% ready, but working, on www.boeken-winkel.nl/shop/

Since the normal Zen Cart templates are quite ugly, it's a relief to see Zen Cart in a normal GL layout. Will try some other themes in a few weeks, and CSS styled textlinks instead some of the normal buttons.

OK, now I'm shure that it's possible to run a decent E-Commerce application in Geeklog, and if you clean up the stylesheet it works with most themes (the Zen Cart community will be pleased with it as well, since there ain't very much nice Zen Cart templates...).

Still have one problem: the page title. How can I tel the plugin not to use the Geeklog HTML header, so it can display the Zen Cart page title, which is much better for SEO purposese? Now it generates a double header....

I suggest you don't use it unless you're a php developer, I've had lots of cookie problems etcetera. Perhaps Magento might do better, there is a Wordpress integration for Magento, so perhaps there's a way to make a Geeklog integration as well.
