Background Image Trouble in Professional Theme

I am having some trouble getting a background image to appear in a modified version of the geeklog professional theme (version 1.4.1). I have followed a few suggestions I found here in the forums but still can't get it to show up. My ideal is that it will show up to cover th entire background on the homepage.
Any suggestions on exactly what I need to add into which files in the theme to get it to show?

If you want a background for the entire site to be the same, I would suggest making the change in your theme dir/header.thtml file and if you want it to be in separate blocks or one one side or the other, look at the left or right blocks.thtml files. For better explanation, find a theme that has already been customized to get a better feel for what you are looking for and possibly how to get it done.
