Can't edit stories

sinergyinaction

Hi
I am still using 1.4.1 beta (don't have time to upgrade right now)
and editing stories gives me the following message

"The ID you are using for this story is being used already. Please use another ID"

How can I do this???? There is no indication on how to change the ID of the story in the page where the story is set up or even edited.

All the best

Probably you saved twice. Go to "stories" and edit or delete.

Hi
what's wrong with saving twice?
If you edit a story you need to save it again, so I feel it should be permitted to save the
same story twice or more, with the same ID, sine it is the same story.

And yes, for the moment I have resorted to deleting a submitting the story again.
Cheers

Did you change the ID when editing? Like: Summer 2007 -> summer-2007 or so? It usually happens then. Normally it is no problem.

Dirk, there is one more situation when you get this error. When you only slightly change the id like

Summer2007 -> summer2007
Summer-2007 -> Summer2007

Usually one should not expect that as the ID looks different. Yet in most cases the story will be saved with the new ID although there is this warning. A bug???

Are you sure about the second example? For MySQL, the first two are the same - upper/lowercase doesn't matter. I guess that's something we could catch.

bye, Dirk

Your theme is not up to date. See the FAQ article above.
