I have a website for BMW motorcycle riders and I thought a centerblock would be a nice addition for the welcome page. I would link step-by-step instructions on how to add an avatar and how to link pictures, and so very basic HTML. (There are a lot of older users on this site.)
I have the centerblock enabled on my forum but I can't figure out where/how to add the centerblock. Is there a trick to this?

Not sure what you want here. The forum centerblock (that is built into the plugin) is for the front page of the web site and it lists the latest posts in the forum. Another centerblock idea is with staticpages, you could add a staticpage centerblock that would always appear on the front page that could have your instructions. The last thing you could do is modify one of the template files for the forum that would display your instructions when users actually visit the forum (not difficult with basic HTNL experience).
Hope that helps.
