static page questions

Since im new to geeklog this may or may not be possible, however im using geeklog as the main backbone to my site but since i ddint see a real full fledged blog plugin and i was allready used to serendipity i figured i would keep using serendipity. Im wondering is it possible to use the static page plugin to show the serendipity content? Kinda like opening a page in a frame senario. I can easily put a link to the blog in a static page but it would be nice to have the blog appear in the center frame of geeklog so i can keep my right,left,and top blocks all the same. Is there anyway to do this?

Well i just tried blog this and broke my site , i had to go into the lib-common file and edit line the last few lines that fill the pluggin arays ( i think that what it does ) then go back to my site and disable the pluggin then re-edit the lib file and uplaod it and the site is back running but if i enable the blog this the site goes down. Any ideas? Seems i cant win today.

Yes, you could the RSS feed of you blog in a php enabled static page and put this in the centre of the front page. Do a forum search for "parse rss" or something like that.

Or possibly an iFrame within an story? It depends on what you want to do. You want to use geeklog as a portal system but you don`t want to copy over the s9 content? You want to continue using s9?

The only reason i would like to keep using serendipity is to my understanding there really isnt a full fleddged blog pluggin for geeklog. I know there is the blog this! pluggin but from what ive read its outdated and when i went to install it with geeklog 1.4 it kills the site when my site tries to load. I would also use the journal pluggin but from what i understand it lacks features of a traditional blog. Any suggestions are appreciated, currently im doing some looking into what beewee suggested.

On the other hand, Geeklog is a fine blogging platform by itself. What else are you using Geeklog for? Couldn't Geeklog be your blog, replacing Serendipity?

bye, Dirk

s9 is pretty advanced over old wordpress. It would be very interesting to hear what features s9 got which you are misssing here.

Wordpress got a nice "subscribe to comments" plugin which is missing with Geeklog. As it looks like such a plugin is being developed this summer 2007.
