Web Interface for config.php changes?

I used geeklog a couple of years ago but had to switch because of the globals setting and my hosting company. I'm trying out Geeklog again. There has been a lot of changes but it still appears that a lot of settings do not have a web interface and must be edited directly in the config.php. For example: Turning off user registration.
I read the FAQ about the over 100 modifications that can be made in the config.php but don't have a web interface because they are not commonly changed.

Will more of these customizations get a web interface in future GL1.x or GL2? Has anyone created an add-on that puts a web interface to the config.php?
