Run GL1.4.1 forum 2.6rc4 and latest staticpages
When adding a feed, also from my own site, alle spesials like æ,ø,å are shown as ? in Firefox and a box in IE, and stripping a few characters after the ?
In the forum iframe (when replying) and in print view of staticpages the same error.
Run with 8859-1, checked other topics on character problems but havent found anything that resolves my problem.
Any hints?
Have another site with the same system on a windows-box and there are no problems there...

I have had this problem since upgrading to 1.4.1, I have read somewhere (off site) that its due to the encoding of your mysql db, cos as default its coded as swedish.
I haven't got round to checking this out though.

In Firefox, under View | Character Encoding, what is set? It defaults to utf-8. This will cause problems with GL if your database is in 8859-1.alle spesials like æ,ø,å are shown as ? in Firefox
Run with 8859-1
Unfortunately converting your website entirely to utf-8 is the only real solution in the long run and I don't think a simple we defined method for doing the conversion yet exists. Hopefully someone involved in that will post with more knowledge than me.

Hmm..
FF are set to utf8, and previously tested to set it to western european and then the characters were displayed right.. But in IE I get crappy chars whatever I do.
But has run previous versions of GL back to 13.7 and never had this problem before.
And as noted, this only happens in the forum preview, feeds, and staticpages-print.
Sure I could convert to utf8, but as you say, cant find any easy guides and then I cant risk an entire site.
Thanks for your reply!
