I recently got into the 20th century by moving to the professional template. I had been using the clean template for years. After my latest upgrade I had no choice but to change themes because of changes in the account information area.
Unfortunately, my users are irate, they want the old theme back. They liked the layout/style and the fact that text links changed color when they were visited. Is there anyone out there who's done the upgrade work on the clean theme or can help me with it?

If you can, zip up the complete clean directory and upload it to me at www.spacequad.com. I will have a look at it and update it to the 141 version. Then you can download the updated version.

Hi Michael, thanks so much for offering to do that!
I registered on your site but for some reason the activation email never arrived. If you could check that for me (used same username) or PM your email address I can email the zip file too.
Thanks

Okay...I just updated the clean theme, hopefully its still looks the same as what you had before your upgrade. You may have to play with the CSS file to get the right colors that you want if its not what you remember.

Thanks for that. I did a little looking around on it and it seems to do one of the same things it was doing to me earlier. When I goto "account information" and try to save any of the changes it shows the message "Spam detected. Post was deleted." Does it do that when you try it?

That is not a theme issue.
The account information is run through Spam-X. If you change your profile a lot and you have your homepage (or other URLs) included in your profile, there's a chance that it will trigger SLV eventually in which case you would get that message.
Check the Spam-X log to confirm. Your site's URL is not sent to SLV by default, but if you have other URLs in your account information, you may want to add them to the SLV whitelist.
bye, Dirk

Thanks for that information, Dirk. I have all URL's blocked (no comment spam), so the homepage field can't be used I guess. I will have to remove that from the template so people won't enter it. Unless there is someway around spam-x checking it..

A trackback directory was not in the zip file and it appears to be required. I subsitited the professional trackback directory to make mine work. Just FYI
Also, any suggestions on where I set the active and visited link colors. I think my layout is somewhat modified. I'm using a page called "frontstorytext" and it shows only the story title on the homepage. Those links do not seem to "obey" the active and visited link colors that are used in the blocks. This is what the file contains:
<td colspan="2" align="left" bgcolor="#e1e2e5"><span class="articleTitle">{start_storylink_anchortag}{story_title}</a></span></td>

Michael,
I was wondering if the comment button works for you. When I try to use it on my site it seems to just refresh the story and doesn't goto the place to post a comment.
If your talkin about the clean theme, then yes it works for me just fine. Varify your problem with a known working theme like professional.
Michael
