Professional directory missing - have I been hacked?

Hi,
I was happily using my site, just from the normal browsing and logged in as a normal user perspective, then came back 2 hours later and the whole site is down. It's www.worldfootynews.com and the error is:
Template Error: set_root: /home/world/public_html/layout/professional is not a directory.
Halted.
I log in via cPanel and go to layout/ and find that there is a zero length file instead of the professional directory. I have no idea what has happened. As far as I know no one has been working on the site.
I tried to delete the zero length file but File Manager says it doesn't exist. I try to ftp in the directory layout/ appears as empty so I copy a backup of professional in but it says I can't because a file of that name already exists.
I'm thinking I must've been hit by a virus or a hacker?
Any suggestions appreciated. I've also contacted my host for ideas. Either way it's 1am in Australia (where me and my site are) so not likely to get any response for a long time.
Cheers,
Brett

It may have been a malfunction on your host's side, but it surely sounds odd.
Check if your ftp program has an option to display hidden files - maybe the file shows up then. Or upload the Professional theme under a different name and change your default theme in config.php accordingly. Geeklog will then use that theme.
I would be very cautious using the site until it's clear what happened. Change your passwords for starters. And if you have indeed been hacked, then you may have some other surprises waiting for you on your site. Check for files that shouldn't be there.
And which Geeklog version is that?
bye, Dirk
