Hello, again,
I just installed GL 1.4.1 for another client. Even on a windows server, the GL install went swimmingly.
Part of the install, however, was also installing the GL Forums plugin, and that's where things have gotten sticky.
After installying the plugin and getting the success message, I went to return to the home page. Upon getting there, I got the well-known Template Error message
Now, I've set up GL with the forum a couple of times in the past year and I've never gotten this error message. What's more, I know that 'blocks' is a directory - it's right there on the server, where it should be.
I have copied the themefiles and templates to the server, right where they're supposed to go. I followed the Portalparts directions to the letter (but the version I got in the .tar file said nothing about the 'Templates' directory - I found that out from reading posts by people with a similar problem).
The blog end of the site works perfectly - when I disable the Forum, all is well. When I turn the Forum on, that's when I get the error message.
I've read and re-read the documentation regarding paths, and that bit seems okay as well.
So... any ideas? TIA.

Verify that you have indeed put the forum directory and its sub-directories as they are listed/structured in the archive under your professional theme dir. Another thing to check is permissions for that new directory structure for read rights. Also verify that you have the flag checked for "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object".
